Many of the high-tech leaders were interviewed last week at the Recode conference. They all seem to believe that artificial intelligence is the next frontier. If you have the time, listen to all of them. If not, I highly recommend listening to Jeff Bezos. You can listen to them on your smartphone via your favorite podcast app.
This cartoon is in my book Feed Your Head. To the uninitiated, it might not be funny. However, whether it's medical or nutrition research, much of it is less than scientific. Just today, these three items (below) came across my smartphone. They discuss many topics. For example, the food we eat to screening tests (PSA, mammograms, & much more). Take the time to watch and listen to them. They might save you money or, no joke, your life. Because I have done the research, I have saved thousands of dollars, declined surgery, and tests that go beyond "basic" screening. If your health is important to you, you will find this information fascinating. All three items can be watched or heard on your smartphone. Of course, you are welcome to hang out here too. 1. 1. Like Netflix, Amazon offers TV shows and movies. Recently, I learned of the show The Americans. I loved it and started binge watching it for free! Just one step closer to pulling the cable plug. 2. People love Spotify and Pandora. However, again for free, Amazon Music provides almost every song ever sung (a slight exaggeration). One of my favorite musicians is Joe Bonamassa. He just came out with a new album (see below). I assumed that it would not be available for free on Amazon. My assumption was wrong. So, for free, I have Joe's brand new album ... along with 10,000+ free songs. For more incredible treasures, check out Buried Treasures of the Web. That's the title of an article I was reading in USA Today. One of its suggestions: check the App Settings to observe which ones are following you. So I did. To my surprise there were 189. The question to pose is: What are these apps tracking and who has access to this information? My answer: "I have no fu$@&*^# clue. However, I did delete every app on the list.
While I often repeat Scott McNealy's observation from many years ago: "You have no privacy. Get over it", it is troubling to realize that we are "economic units" to these companies. And, we have zero privacy. Forget about the NSA. Compared to Facebook, Google, Amazon, and others, the NSA is a bunch of amateurs. Should we worry about this invasion of privacy? I think so. In your mind, fast-forward about ten years. The technological invasion of privacy will only get much more sophisticated and invasive. For some tips about security and privacy, check out Buried Treasures of the Web. For even more Buried Treasures of the Web, visit here.
